Welcome to the MarVaTots 'n Teens
Parents' Association Information Page

This page has general information about the MarVaTots 'n Teens Parents' Association including the purpose of the association and general requirements for all team parents.

Purpose and General Information

The primary purpose of the Parents' Association, a non-profit organization since its inception in 1976, has been to financially support the gymnasts in the Competitive Team program at all levels. A Board of Directors oversees management of the non-profit Association. The Board of Directors consists of an Executive Director, President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Head Team Level Representative, Optional Team Representatives, Compulsory Levels Team Representatives and PreTeam Representative.

Team parents are encouraged to attend the monthly board meetings. Notification of the day and time for meetings is posted on the Parents' Bulletin Board. The Bulletin Board is also used to announce upcoming events and post information. Parents must check this board on a regular basis to keep aware of what is going on in the organization. Such information will also be available through this web page in the future.

There are financial, fund raising, and work requirements for parents based on a gymnast's competitive level. The funds raised are used to support team social functions, awards given during the year, continuing training for team coaches, and to help defer meet entry expenses and associated travel costs. Each year the Association hosts one or two meets outside of the gym and parents are required to work a number of sessions depending on their gymnast's competitive level. One of the major events the Parents' Association hosts is the Nation's Capital Cup Meet held in early March each year.
