This page has general information about the MarVaTots 'n Teens Competitive Team including a description of the program and general practice information for the different skill levels.
The MarVaTots 'n Teens Gymnastics Competitive Team program, which has been known as MarVaTeens, has one of the largest, most successful competitive teams in the nation. Along with having won over 100 invitational meets at various levels, the club is one of a few in the U.S. that has developed a National or International Level Elite gymnast for over 20 years!
Several of our team's gymnasts have been crowned State, Regional, and National Champions, and there have been over 30 Elite gymnasts in our history. Since its beginnings, over 85 percent of all graduating high school seniors have earned a college scholarship.
The goal of the competitive team is to provide all girls with an opportunity to enjoy and be successful in competitive gymnastics. There are a variety of groups within each competitive level to allow for diversity of ages and skill levels.
The Competitive
Team program, is structured to provide progressively more intensive training
as the gymnast develops skills and physical abilities as measured and monitored
by our coaching staff, and based on competitive meet performances by the gymnast.
Practices are scheduled during the week and are established around school schedules.
Monthly fees for the team members vary by competitive level. Specific training
schedules and fees are available by contacting the gym by phone.

The initial level is the PRETEAM which is for girls ages 5 and up, who wish to pursue competitive gymnastics. Girls are invited to join this training level based on a demonstration of fundamental skills in our class program, or by a requested evaluation. During the school year, PRETEAM practice is 2 days per week for 2 hours per day for a total of 4 hours.
The next levels in the team program are the Level 4, 5 and 6 Teams. . The Level 4, 5 and 6 Teams compete in the USA Gymnastics program on all four events. Level 4, 5 and 6 Team members compete in a number of meets during the year, and can qualify for local sectional and state Level 4, 5 and 6 championships. During the school year Level 4 practices three days per week for a total of 10.5 hours. Level 5 practices three days a week for up to 4.5 hours per day for a total of about 11.5 hours. Level 6 practices 4 times a week for a total of 14.5 hours.
Levels 7, 8, 9, 10, and Elite compete in the USA Gymnastics program in local, state, regional, and national competitions and championship meets. At these levels of competition, team member practices are 4 to 6 days per week for at least 4 hours per practice session. Total practice times vary from 17 hours per week for Level 7 members to well over 30 hours per week for Level 10 and Elite competitors.
